Industrial Measurements, Communications and Protocols
Abstract
The presentation pretends to make the a link between the past and the future of Industrial Measurements, Communications and Protocols, and includes two main parts. The first part focuses several topics that are related with the measurement of electrical and non-electrical quantities and the second part includes a summary of the main protocols that are used in instrumentation and control (I&C) networks. In the end of the presentation, the audience should understand the main challenges associated with industrial measurement, identify the main characteristics of I&C protocols that are used in industrial networks, as well as, the requirements that must be considered to choice the right instrumentation and measurement solution, in terms of performance and cost, for a specific industrial measurement application.
