Embedded IoT Sensing Systems: From Data Acquisition
to Edge Intelligence

Abstract

The rapid evolution of embedded electronics, wireless communication, and artificial intelligence is transforming traditional sensor networks into intelligent IoT sensing systems capable of real-time monitoring and decision support. This keynote provides an overview of current trends in the design of embedded sensing platforms, covering sensor integration, low-power hardware, wireless connectivity, cloud-based data management, and edge intelligence. Recent advances in machine learning, digital twins, and distributed sensing architectures will be discussed together with their role in developing reliable, scalable, and sustainable monitoring systems for critical infrastructure, industrial automation, and smart environments.
